Bio

For more than 12 years, I’ve been an arts & entertainment journalist + editor based in New York City. I’ve been an editor at MTV, Rolling Stone  and the Wall Street Journal and have been published in New York, CNN,Vanity Fair, Esquire, The Village Voice, SPIN, Reuters, GQ, The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard.

In January 2011, I helped conceptualize and launch MTV’s music-magazine website, MTVHive. I spent 2.5 years editing the site, shaping the voice and direction, and doing multimedia/viral projects like comics, rapper pumpkin stencils and Matt Pinfield’s podcast, The Hivecast.

From 2002 – 2007, I  was a visiting professor at Manhattan College, where taught college courses in sociology and culture. During that time, I also edited two books on Internet culture, Cyberactivism and Cybersounds.  I have degrees in sociology with specializations in culture and media from Virginia Tech and the New School.
